Blwyddyn 2

Croeso nol Blwyddyn 2Welcome back Year 2

Blwyddyn Newydd Dda – Happy New Year!

We hope you all had a wonderful Christmas break.

This term our topic is ‘Amazing Africa’.  The children have identified what they wanted to find out about this topic and their questions are on our E.P.I.C. board in class. We will be finding the answers to those questions throughout the term.

This is a link to a Topic Web of activities that we hope to cover in the Spring term.

The children have been very busy completing activities in their Mission station areas in class. The children have a fortnight to complete the activities and they record what they have done in their books or on the Seesaw app on the i-pad.

PE Lessons

The children will have 1 PE session a week, on a Wednesday afternoon. Can you please ensure they have a gym kit in school, with each item clearly labelled. This term the children will be doing Dance and Gymnastics.

Spelling Test

Spelling test are on a Thursday. Words are sent out Friday the week before, spellingso children have a week to learn them. As well as learning them at home, children are given the opportunity in class to go over the words using a multi-sensory approach including writing them in sand and also using Spellosaur on the I-pads.

There will be no further spelling or tables tests until the new year.

Here is a reminder of the days that your child should return their reading book to school each week.

Can we emphasise the importance of reading to and with your child as often as possible (at least 4 times a week). It is also very important that you record in your child’s planner each time as it allows us to see when books can be changed and the progress your child is making.

Water bottles

Parents are asked to send in sports style water bottles with their children each morning so that all children have access to water at all times throughout the day.
