Derbyn

Croeso i Ddosbarth Derbyn!

Welcome to the Reception class page!

To Infinity and Beyond!

Our topic this term is space. The children are so excited to learn all about it and have come up with some wonderful ideas and questions for us to explore.

Scientists 'discover' more than 100 planets in our solar system

Reading

Reading books will go home every Friday, please could we ask that they are returned to school on Monday. We have also provided reading diaries, please could you write an comment every time you listen to your child read. It is such a useful means of communication and it is wonderful to refer back to.

Please take time to talk with your child about the story, discuss the pictures, ask them what they think might be happening at each stage and whether they enjoyed the book or not.

Spellings

Spelling tests will take place every Friday, please could their books be brought in on Friday so we can record their results and issue words for the following week.

The children will have a choice of spellings either ‘ Mild chillies’ or ‘Hot chillies’, please choose the spellings you feel are appropriate for your child and indicate the words they have chosen in their spelling books. Thank you!

P.E.

P.E. will take place on a Tuesday or a Thursday afternoon, please could you ensure that your child comes to school in suitable clothing and footwear.

Outdoor Learning

In Hendrefoilan we are so lucky to have our wonderful forest area- Coed Cadno. We try and utilise the area as much as we possibly can, particularly on a Tuesday and Thursday afternoon. Could we please request that your child has a pair of named wellies in school and wears a suitable waterproof coat. Thank you!

Snacks

Please could you provide your child with a piece of fruit and a separate drink for snack time. We would please ask that all containers and drinks are labelled and should you be bringing in grapes, please could they be cut up.

Should you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us via the school office.

Many thanks,

Miss de Vall, Mrs Dolbear and Mrs Howard.
