What is Peace Mala?

A Peace Mala is a symbolic double rainbow bracelet that promotes friendship, respect, and peace between people of all cultures, lifestyles, faiths, beliefs, and none.

More information can be found on the Peace Mala website.

Why are we learning about Peace Mala?

Peace Mala focuses on the Golden Rule: “Treat others as you would wish them to treat you”. Its intention is to educate and remind everyone that this rule is recognised by many scholars, teachers and philosophers. Running through the Peace Mala is a simple thread which holds all the rainbow beads together. This may be called the Golden Thread of Spirituality which connects us all through the love in our hearts – acknowledging the Golden Rule and our spiritual unity opens up the pathway to peace.Learning about Peace Mala opens our minds and thoughts, preparing our pupils for the diverse world that we live in. We have so much diversity in Hendrefoilan and we wish to celebrate it. We are proud to say we have 14 different languages spoken and a range of religions followed, including Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Judaism and Buddhism.

Peace Mala Pals 2022/23

The Peace Pals are children who make sure our school is peaceful at all times. We follow the Golden rule and make sure all our friends are happy and promoting peace. We challenge any behaviour that doesn’t follow this and make sure our school community is inclusive and supportive of everyone.

Peace Mala at Hendrefoilan

Throughout the year we will be taking part in many exciting learning opportunities. We will be celebrating different religious holidays throughout the year and learning from our friends, including Christmas, Diwali, Holi, Ramadan. We will be learning about Black History during Black History Month, including taking part in the Stand Up To Racism campaign. We’re looking forward to fundraising again, through fun days such as Children in Need and The Mr.X campaign.
