Welcome back to the final term in Year 6. We have a very busy term ahead of us!

 

Our new topic is ‘Footprints’ and we have already spent some time planning our ideas together as a class. We will be looking at early footprints, our carbon footprint, our digital footprint, and the idea that people leave their mark on the world through the choices they make. We will be looking at influential people who have made a significant difference in some way. It is the final stretch of your primary school journey, so we will be thinking about what it means to leave a legacy. We have planned a special event to bring the community and our learning together at the ‘Hendrefest’.

Weekly things to remember:

A little every day: Please read as often and as widely as possible at home. It makes a huge difference in all aspects of the curriculum if you feel confident about reading. The work you put in really pays off!

 PE lessons will be on Thursdays this term. Please wear PE kit to school on this day.

Spelling tests and times tables tests will take place every Friday. Spelling lists will be available on the Google Classroom each week in preparation for the following week’s test. These will be related to our work on etymology and morphology of words. We will be learning about how our language has evolved over time!

Outdoor learning sessions will be held on Fridays – please wear/bring suitable clothes and footwear that you don’t mind getting a bit muddy!

Homework submission –

A menu of SIX home learning tasks has been given out in class and is available on the Google Classroom. You can choose the order in which you complete the six activities, but you are expected to complete all six tasks in full and to the very best of your ability. We will celebrate your work in class on the specified home learning dates.
